Phahurat (Little India) halal food

Phahurat Market, Bangkok's Little India, sits a short walk from Chinatown and is the city's other major halal food cluster — built around a long-established South Asian Muslim community rather than the Middle Eastern one in Sukhumvit or the southern-Thai one in Ramkhamhaeng.

Indian-Pakistani-Bangladeshi halal restaurants, fabric and textile shops, spice vendors, and a Sikh temple sit within a few blocks of each other. The food skews South Asian — biryani, curries, roti — rather than Thai-Muslim or Arabic.

Because Phahurat borders Chinatown (Yaowarat), many visitors combine both in one afternoon — halal lunch in Phahurat, then Chinatown's non-halal street food scene for sightseeing only, or vice versa if arriving from the river ferry piers.
