Ramkhamhaeng halal night market

Ramkhamhaeng is home to one of Bangkok's largest long-settled Muslim communities, and from around 5pm the neighborhood's night market and surrounding streets turn into a corridor of up to 100 halal food stalls — the cheapest, most authentic halal Thai street food in the city, largely untouched by the tourist pricing of Sukhumvit.

Biryani, khao mok kai (Thai-style chicken biryani), noodle soups, grilled chicken, and halal versions of Thai street-food staples dominate the stalls. This is street food in the literal sense — plastic stools, no menus in English at some stands, and prices well below mall food courts.

The area sits along Ramkhamhaeng Road, reachable by the Airport Rail Link or a longer taxi/Grab ride from central Bangkok. The market comes alive from 5pm onward; arriving before then means many stalls haven't opened yet.

Little Arabia (Sukhumvit Soi 3) serves Middle Eastern food to a Gulf-tourist and expat audience at tourist-area prices. Ramkhamhaeng serves halal Thai food to a local Thai-Muslim community at local prices — the two neighborhoods complement rather than compete with each other.
